Team building is the idea that groups must go through certain stages of development before they can function well. For some groups, "functioning well" may mean co-existing in a friendly and cooperative manner, while for others it may mean working together on long-term projects or functioning as a decision-making body for an organization. Regardless of the differences between groups, group building activities are those that facilitate that developmental process and help the group achieve a higher level of functionality than existed prior to the activities.
